Ameresco Quantum begins work on energy savings performance contract in Portland, US
Energy services company Ameresco Quantum has commenced work on a $5.4m comprehensive energy savings performance contract for Reed College in Portland, Oregon.
The program is expected to save the college about $2.7m over a 10-year period through campus-wide operational and energy efficient upgrades resulting in the reducing of 2.65 million pounds of CO2 emissions annually.
Ameresco employed its total system evaluation method to assess existing condition at the college and identified major improvements to be carried out to eight buildings besides lighting and water measures to be undertaken to achieve operational and sustainability goals.
Commenting on the measures Ameresco Quantum Northwest Region vice president Mike O'Connor said that the company has collaborated with the Reed College to identify the energy savings potential and also to provide solutions to improve the quality of their infrastructure and facilities on a budget-neutral basis.
"In addition, we have explored other funding mechanisms for the project, including a $300,000 Energy Trust of Oregon incentive that we have secured.
"Once the project is complete, the energy conservation and efficiency program will significantly reduce the energy demands and related costs for all facilities, and improve the living and learning environments for the entire Reed College community," added Connor.
