Active Power Receives Order From Software Company For Two CleanSource 300E kVA UPS Systems

Active Power, Inc. (Active Power), a US-based manufacturer of power solutions incorporating uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, has received an order from a software company for two CleanSource 300E kVA UPS systems. The two systems will be deployed at the customer’s campus in the Northwestern US to protect its mission critical data center facility against electrical disturbances, but also condition utility power into the facility.

Equipment has already shipped and will be installed later this quarter.

“Active Power’s flywheel UPS technology aligns well with the green initiatives the customer already has in place,” said Jim Clishem, president and chief executive officer, Active Power. “Our backup power systems are economically green, meaning not only do they reduce environmental impact, but the customer saves on energy consumption, resulting in savings on operational expenses due to the system’s high energy efficiency. A green technology that delivers both performance and economic benefits is appealing particularly in this current market.”

The 300E system is expandable and modular so the customer has the ability to seamlessly add additional flywheel systems as the customer’s business needs and information technology capacity increases. The systems are also extremely power dense, providing up to twice the power in half the space as compared to a conventional battery based UPS system.
